Remodeling FAQ’s

Is there a good time to remodel?

Remodeling is a personal choice, and perhaps determined when you feel your environment is “tired” and in need of updating.  The best time to remodel is when you are ready.  Think about the changes you want to make, what do you like or dislike and you are on your way to make your vision into a reality.

How much will it cost to remodel my kitchen or bathroom?

This is probably the most asked question we receive, and it is extremely difficult to answer.  There are so many variables in determining costs for remodeling projects.  A major factor in final costs are always what features you would like to include and what brands or models you select.

What makes a kitchen more or less expensive?

Cabinets account for about one-third to one-half of the total cost of your project.  This ranges considerably on the type of cabinet you choose and its quality.  Countertop materials also play a large factor in determining final costs.

What makes a bathroom remodel more or less expensive

In a bathroom, there is usually no single element that will compromise a significantly larger portion of the costs than other.   Fixture choices vary depending on brand, materials and an array of products you select.

Should I select my appliances before I decide on my cabinets?

We do not recommend appliance selection first.  A kitchen design can be a puzzle, each piece put together to provide you with the maximum space allowance.  It is much easier to find the right appliances after your kitchen has been designed.

What can I do myself to help cut costs?

This depends on how much knowledge and ability you have regarding remodeling.  Demolition and getting your project ready almost always requires special plumbing and electrical that most homeowners are unable to do themselves.  You are better off letting the pros handle these areas.  Items like wall paper removal, painting and possibly floor removal are areas you could possibly consider.
